Life At Point C

Experiencing Life along the Silk Road

Back in Kyrgyzstan

We’ve been back in Kyrgyzstan for almost 2 weeks now. It seems weird that we were in the States just 2 weeks ago. I think it is weird because that world seems so far removed from this world. Maybe you get that feeling anytime you go somewhere really different for vacation. Or maybe it is because it takes so long to travel from here to there that it feels so weird. We left the States on Sunday morning and arrived in Bishkek early on Tuesday morning. We then spent one night in Bishkek and didn’t arrive home in Karakol until Wednesday.

Thankfully, it has been an easy transition back home. I wasn’t sure if it would be difficult to come back after some time in the States, but everything has felt normal and comfortable to us. It feels good to be back home. Kirsten especially has enjoyed being back in her room with her toys. She missed Kyrgyzstan terribly while we were away. I don’t think that she remembered a whole lot about the States. She has already spent 1/3 of her life away. That is both a neat and a sad realization for me. I’m glad she is experiencing so much for her age, but it is also a bit sad that she doesn’t remember all of the people and places that are dear to us (her parents) back in the States. I guess it is part of the trade-off.

Well, on to more Kyrgyz adventures to write about for next week…
